ALABAMA — A two-vehicle crash Friday night left one man dead and another facing a vehicular manslaughter charge, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
State troopers said the collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sanborn Avenue and County Road 73. Investigators said an SUV driven by 56-year-old Nemecio Cruz struck another SUV driven by 67-year-old Summerdale resident Thomas Harber.
Harber, who officials said was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene.
Cruz was taken to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center for treatment, then booked into the Baldwin County Jail on a charge of vehicular manslaughter. Authorities have not released details on what led to the charge.
ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is continuing to investigate the crash.
