FLORIDA — A Clearwater man has been charged with second-degree murder after deputies say he fatally stabbed his mother Thursday.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home along U.S. 19 in unincorporated Clearwater after a 911 caller reported receiving a phone call from the suspect, who stated he had killed his mother.
Deputies arrived at the residence and found 65-year-old Yolanda Sanchez dead inside the home. Authorities said she had suffered multiple stab wounds.
Investigators reported that Yolanda Sanchez had been involved in an argument with her son, Daniel Sanchez, 24. The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, during which Daniel Sanchez admitted to stabbing his mother until she died, according to the sheriff’s office.
Daniel Sanchez was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail, where he remained in custody as of Friday.
The investigation remains ongoing.
