OHIO — A 77-year-old man has been charged with murder following a deadly shooting Sunday afternoon in Deerfield Township.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called around 3:17 p.m. to Deerfield Township Fire Station 57 in the 3400 block of U.S. Route 22 for reports of a person suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies identified a person of interest who was present and took him into custody. Detectives later charged Gerald Olin Finley, 77, with felonious assault and murder. He was booked into the Warren County Jail as part of the ongoing homicide investigation.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family. Authorities said the investigation remains active.
