NORTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and another was taken into custody following a shooting Thursday afternoon at a shopping center in south Durham, police said.
Officers responded to the scene around 4:45 p.m. at a shopping center along South Miami Boulevard. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said one person was taken into custody in connection with the shooting. No additional details about the suspect or potential charges were immediately released.
Investigators were seen working inside a Randy’s Pizza location at the shopping center as officers secured the area. Several Durham police vehicles were parked in the lot while the investigation continued.
Authorities have not said what led to the shooting. The incident remains under investigation.
