
NORTH CAROLINA — The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a suspect is in custody following a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a teenager early Friday morning in Pembroke.
According to deputies, the shooting was reported at approximately 12:20 a.m. in the 1500 block of Canal Road. Responding officers found 17-year-old Rylan A. Strickland of Pembroke deceased at the scene.
Later Friday morning, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the same block of Canal Road. During that operation, deputies arrested 18-year-old Kaiden S. Demery, also of Pembroke.
The sheriff’s office said Demery has been charged with first-degree murder. He is currently being held in the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
