FLORIDA — The Blountstown Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a Sunday night shooting that left one person dead.
Officers responded to Calhoun Liberty Hospital after a gunshot victim was brought in. Despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators determined the shooting occurred at Cooper’s Park in Blountstown. Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene, and authorities identified 21-year-old Kellen Alexander Speights as a suspect.
Officials tracked Speights’ vehicle to Tallahassee, where Leon County Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop. Speights abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot but was eventually apprehended. He has been charged with an open count of homicide and fleeing and eluding.
