
FLORIDA — A motorcycle crash early Sunday left one person dead and another critically injured, authorities said.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV traveling westbound on Thomas Drive struck the rear of a motorcycle in the inside lanes after failing to slow down. The collision caused the motorcycle to overturn, ejecting both the driver and passenger.
The motorcycle driver, a 64-year-old man from Panama City Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 28-year-old woman from Fort Walton Beach, was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
The 26-year-old SUV driver continued driving on Thomas Drive before stopping at the intersection of Joan Avenue.
Police located and arrested him for DUI manslaughter, DUI causing serious bodily injury, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and serious injury. He was transported to a hospital for clearance before being taken to the Bay County Jail.
