KENTUCKY — A man faces multiple charges following a deadly ATV crash Monday afternoon on Hardwick’s Creek Road, Kentucky State Police reported.
Troopers said Shawn Cornett was driving an ATV with Ashley Plowman as a passenger around 2:30 p.m. when he lost control. The ATV overturned several times, throwing Plowman from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cornett was initially taken to a hospital for treatment but left against medical advice before a blood draw could be performed. Police later located him at his home in Irvine, where he admitted to using heroin and meth after leaving the hospital. He told investigators he was not under the influence at the time of the crash.
Cornett was arrested and charged with reckless homicide, operating without a license, and all-terrain vehicle violations. He is being held at the Powell County Jail.
