
SOUTH CAROLINA — One person is dead and at least nine others are injured following a mass shooting during a large Juneteenth celebration in Anderson County on Saturday night.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a large gathering along Scarborough Road shortly after a fight broke out.
The shooting occurred just after 10:00 p.m., and dozens of law enforcement officers were called to the scene.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 35-year-old Laporshia Cobb, who died after being shot in the abdomen.
One victim was airlifted to a hospital, and eight others were transported to medical facilities in Anderson and Greenville. Authorities said two of the victims sustained severe injuries.
Deputies said the gathering drew hundreds of people and was part of an annual Juneteenth celebration that has taken place in the area for several years.
As of Sunday, no suspects have been identified. The investigation remains ongoing.
