One person dead in wrong way crash on Ohio interstate

OHIO — A wrong-way driver caused a fatal crash early Wednesday morning that shut down a section of I-75 for several hours, according to the Toledo Police Department.

Authorities said Brandy Pearce, 35, of Toledo, was traveling north in the southbound lanes when she collided head-on with a vehicle driven by a 44-year-old man from Romulus, Michigan.

The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. between I-280 and Alexis Road.

Pearce died at the scene, police said. The other driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The crash led to an extended closure of the highway as emergency crews responded.

The incident remains under investigation.
