
ALABAMA — A person has died from a suspected drug overdose in Chickasaw, and two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, authorities report.
According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Chickasaw Police requested assistance around 8:15 p.m. Aug. 25 after a person, identified as Kailin Laporte, was found dead on 8th Avenue. Investigators determined that 25-year-old Payton Beason of Saraland and 32-year-old Tyler Thompson of Tuscaloosa had delivered fentanyl to Laporte.
Beason admitted to selling the fentanyl and said Thompson drove her to the location. Officers later recovered drug paraphernalia, white powder, pipes, and money in the suspects’ hotel room in Saraland.
Beason was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, manslaughter, and additional possession charges on existing warrants.
Thompson was charged with use/possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance and has been released on a $3,000 bond. Beason is awaiting a bond hearing.
