MEDINA COUNTY — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal multi-vehicle crash that occurred early Thursday morning on Interstate 71 in Medina County.
The crash happened at approximately 12:16 a.m. near mile post 206.
According to investigators, a white Hyundai Sante Fe traveling north on I-71 struck the rear of a white Honda Civic.
Following the initial collision, the Hyundai veered off the left side of the roadway, crossing into the southbound lanes.
It then collided with a semi-tractor trailer before crashing head-on into a white Dodge cargo van.
The driver of the Hyundai, 25-year-old Eliyjsha Richardson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge cargo van sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Cleveland Clinic in Lodi.
Officials reported that the other individuals involved in the crash were uninjured.
The incident remains under investigation.
