MICHIGAN — A 71-year-old Newaygo man has died from injuries sustained in a wrong-way crash on U.S. 131, according to Michigan State Police.
The crash occurred at 3:40 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, near Kendaville Road in Montcalm County.
Witnesses reported that the man entered the northbound lanes of U.S. 131 while driving south at high speeds.
His vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by a 50-year-old woman from Grand Rapids. Her 11-year-old son was also in the vehicle.
Emergency responders transported the Newaygo man to a hospital, where he later died.
The woman and her son were hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
All northbound lanes of U.S. 131 were closed for several hours following the crash.
Michigan State Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
