FLORIDA — A 28-year-old man has died following a crash on Interstate 75 after a tractor-trailer made an illegal U-turn near the Hillsborough and Manatee county line, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened at the 235 milepost when the driver of a tractor-trailer attempted to make a U-turn to travel southbound on I-75. In doing so, the truck entered the path of a Toyota Corolla.
The driver of the Corolla was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Authorities said he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Investigators identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as 45-year-old Julio Dones Rosa of Citrus Springs. Rosa was not injured.
Rosa was arrested and charged with reckless driving involving serious injury. He was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail.
The crash remains under investigation.
