
INDIANA — One person was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash on Interstate 69 in Huntington County.
According to the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched around 3:15 p.m. to the 273-mile marker near Warren following reports of a collision.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a Tesla traveling northbound struck a semi-truck that was parked on the shoulder of the highway. Police said the semi-truck had been parked on the shoulder for an extended period before the crash.
Witnesses told investigators that the Tesla had been using the shoulder to pass other vehicles and was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the collision.
Medical personnel evaluated the occupants of the semi-truck at the scene. Authorities said the driver of the Tesla was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
