ARIZONA — A juvenile has died and four others were injured in a rollover crash along Interstate 17 near Peoria Avenue on Sunday morning, according to authorities.
Officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on the northbound side of I-17 near the Peoria Avenue on-ramp.
Investigators reported that the crash involved a single vehicle, which was found overturned at the end of the on-ramp. Four people were transported to area hospitals for treatment, while one juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released additional details about the victims or what led up to the crash.
Northbound I-17 was closed at Peoria Avenue following the incident. Traffic was being diverted, with drivers able to re-enter the freeway at Cactus Road. Officials said the closure was expected to last for several hours, though no estimated reopening time was provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
