VIRGINIA — A 67-year-old man from Albemarle County died Tuesday morning following a head-on collision involving a pickup truck and a box truck.
The crash occurred just after 8 a.m. on July 29 on Monacan Trail Road near Rock Branch Lane.
Emergency crews from the Albemarle County Police Department and Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
According to police, the two vehicles collided head-on. The driver of the pickup truck, identified as Randall D. Bickel of the Covesville area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the box truck, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
