VIRGINIA — A 74-year-old woman died following a single-vehicle crash in Bedford County early Thursday morning, according to Virginia State Police.
Authorities said the crash occurred shortly after 4 a.m. on Big Island Highway near Rush Mountain Trail.
Investigators identified the driver as Geraldine Irene McLeod, of Big Island. Police said she was driving a 2006 Ford Ranger southbound when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a large boulder.
McLeod died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
