One person dead following vehicle crash in Virginia

VIRGINIA — A 78-year-old woman was killed and two others were injured in a crash Wednesday afternoon in Rockbridge County, according to Virginia State Police.

Troopers responded around 3 p.m. to the intersection of East Midland Trail and Memorial Lane.

Investigators say Melodie Vohar, 78, of Lexington, was driving a Jaguar XF and failed to yield the right-of-way while entering East Midland Trail. Her vehicle was struck by a 2012 Honda Civic traveling east.

Vohar was wearing her seat belt and died at the scene. A 78-year-old male passenger in the Jaguar, who was also wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

The 19-year-old woman driving the Civic and her 24-year-old male passenger were both injured and transported to a local hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
