VIRGINIA — One person was killed and another injured Monday morning in a crash on Monacan Trail Road, authorities said.
The Albemarle County Police Department reported the single-vehicle crash occurred around 11:40 a.m. near Rural Ridge Lane in North Garden.
First responders found the driver had been ejected from the vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A passenger was taken to the University of Virginia Health System with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
