
TEXAS — One person was killed in a crash involving an 18-wheeler early Saturday morning in Smith County, according to local officials.
Smith County Emergency Services District No. 2 spokesperson Nikki Simmons said the crash occurred shortly after midnight on Highway 271 near Interstate 20. A car became lodged underneath an 18-wheeler during the collision.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, Simmons said. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional details were released.
