TEXAS — A woman was found dead following a crash early Saturday morning in Jefferson County, according to authorities.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 6:30 a.m. to the area of Highway 73 east of Veolia after receiving reports of a reckless driver.
When deputies arrived, they located a vehicle that had crashed in the center median. Inside the vehicle, officials found an unresponsive woman who appeared to have suffered life-threatening injuries.
Emergency crews from City EMS and the Port Arthur Fire Department responded to provide medical assistance, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said Justin Chesson responded and officially pronounced the woman deceased.
The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The sheriff’s office said the crash remains under investigation.
