TENNESSEE — A single-vehicle crash earlier this month in Jefferson County claimed the life of a 29-year-old man, according to a preliminary report released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) on Friday.
The crash occurred on July 19 in the 1300 block of Deep Springs Road.
Investigators say a 2020 Isuzu NPR truck was traveling north when it swerved off the right side of the road to avoid a vehicle that had slowed in its lane. The truck then struck a utility pole and came to an uncontrolled stop.
The driver, identified as Donnie Cogburn, 29, died as a result of the crash. A passenger in the vehicle was not injured, THP said.
Both the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
