TENNESSEE — A longtime Franklin firefighter was killed in a fiery crash Thursday in Bedford County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
The victim, 49-year-old Gregory Tucker, was traveling south on Highway 41A in a 2020 Jeep Gladiator when his vehicle crossed the center line and overcorrected while negotiating a curve.
A 2023 Mack GR6 dump truck struck Tucker’s vehicle in the northbound lane. Both vehicles then veered off the west side of the road and caught fire.
Tucker was pronounced dead at the scene. No charges have been filed in connection with the crash, and the THP continues to investigate.
Tucker, a 14-year veteran of the Franklin Fire Department, was assigned to Station 5 on B Shift, located in the Polk Place subdivision.
Originally from Redford, Michigan, and a resident of Shelbyville, Tucker was remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Franklin Fire Chief Glenn Johnson honored Tucker in a tribute posted to social media, and the Hendersonville Fire Department also extended condolences to Tucker’s family.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
