
TENNESSEE — One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning on Highway 421 in Sullivan County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 3 a.m. on U.S. Highway 421 near Pyle Road. A Subaru Impreza traveling north ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a fallen tree. The vehicle came to rest on a wooded embankment.
Authorities identified the passenger as Justin Hall, 18, who was killed in the crash. The driver was injured.
Investigators said neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
The crash initially closed a portion of Highway 421/State Route 34 near South Holston Lake in both directions. The roadway has since reopened.
