SOUTH CAROLINA — A 24-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Union County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers were called to the scene around 12:15 a.m. on July 12 on Martins Lake Road near Highway 92.
Authorities say a 2009 Nissan sedan was traveling west when the driver veered off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and a tree, and overturned.
There were two people in the vehicle. The passenger, identified by the coroner as Enrique Hernadez Orozco, was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma. The coroner noted that Orozco was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The condition of the driver has not been released.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
