SOUTH CAROLINA — A 42-year-old Ridgeville woman died Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle crash along South Carolina Highway 27, according to the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office.
Carey Nuzzolesse was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash, which occurred around 7:55 a.m. near Way Hall Road. Coroner Paul J. Brouthers said Nuzzolesse was pronounced dead at 8:47 a.m. The exact cause of death has not been released, and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened when a 2012 Chevrolet sedan and a 2022 Ford SUV were traveling north on Highway 27 and collided.
Authorities said Nuzzolesse was driving the Ford SUV, which was attempting to pass the sedan at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet sedan was transported to a local hospital. Two passengers who were in the Ford SUV were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
