SOUTH CAROLINA — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash that occurred Wednesday night in Beaufort.
Troopers said the crash happened shortly after 9 p.m. on U.S. 21 near Detour Road. According to investigators, a vehicle traveling north on U.S. 21 left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver, who was the only occupant, died at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the incident, authorities said.
The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
