One person dead following vehicle crash in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed in a crash early Sunday morning in the Midlands, authorities report.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) said the accident occurred shortly after 12:15 a.m. on Interstate 26 near the 117-mile marker.

A Mitsubishi sedan traveling east ran off the road to the left, struck a guardrail, and overturned.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, died as a result of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by SCHP.
