OHIO — A 57-year-old woman died following a single-vehicle crash shortly after midnight Wednesday in Dayton, according to police.
Dayton Police Department spokesman James Rider said the crash occurred at approximately 12:01 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Main Street.
According to the preliminary investigation, a red Chevrolet Malibu was traveling southbound when it crossed the center line and left the roadway. The vehicle struck a building, landscaping and a fence before coming to a stop.
The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported by medics to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not been released pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.
The crash remains under active investigation by the Dayton Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the cause of death.
