
OHIO — A 14-year-old boy was killed Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Morrow County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 2:55 p.m. on County Road 59 in Congress Township. A 16-year-old boy was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger eastbound when the vehicle left the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.
The passenger, a 14-year-old boy from Bellville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital for treatment.
According to investigators, both teens were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
