Troopers said the crash happened on state Route 682, just south of Wildwood Lane. A Nissan Sentra, driven by 27-year-old Monica Perani, was struck by a Ram 1500 pickup truck that crossed the center line.
Perani was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was taken to OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Athens County EMS Chief Amber Pyle confirmed that Perani was a paramedic with the department, where she had worked for nearly three years.
