OHIO — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Friday morning in Medina County.
Troopers said the crash happened on Sept. 5, just before 9 a.m., on State Route 3 near Pierce Road. A 2015 GMC Yukon XL was traveling northbound when it went off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned.
The driver, identified as Nicole Johnson, 52, of Medina, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Johnson was the only person in the vehicle, according to investigators.
The Medina Fire Department, Medina Police Department, Medina Township Police Department, the Medina Life Support Team and Heidi’s Towing all assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
