OHIO — A 75-year-old man was killed and three others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 9:35 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 20 and County Road 128, just outside of Fremont.
Investigators said a 74-year-old woman from Helena was driving a minivan south on County Road 128 when she failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the intersection. Her vehicle was struck by an SUV driven by a 17-year-old from Avon Lake traveling southeast on U.S. 20.
The SUV went off the south side of the road and hit a guardrail. A passenger in the minivan, identified as a 75-year-old man from Helena, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the minivan was taken to a hospital, along with the teenage driver of the SUV and his 16-year-old passenger, both of Avon Lake. Their conditions have not been released.
Troopers said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.
The Fremont Post was assisted at the scene by the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, Fremont Police Department, Sandusky County EMS, Sandusky Township Fire Department and a towing service.
The crash remains under investigation.
