OHIO — The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday morning on State Route 39.

According to officials, deputies responded to the scene of a one-vehicle crash at approximately 10:27 a.m. The accident happened east of Township Road 455 in Washington Township.

Deputies said 57-year-old Travis D. Jones of Danville was driving a 2009 Ford F-250 Super Duty and towing a 2019 Goose Neck Trailer.

He had just loaded items from a business in the Loudenville Industrial Park and was traveling southbound on Bakes Avenue when he failed to stop at the intersection with State Route 39.

According to the release, Jones crossed the highway, entered a yard, and struck a creek embankment. Deputies said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Western Holmes EMS pronounced Jones dead at the scene.

The Holmes County Coroner is expected to order an autopsy to determine whether a medical emergency or other impairment may have contributed to the crash.
