OHIO — A 68-year-old Ohio woman died following a single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 74 near Batesville, according to the Indiana State Police.
Authorities said Darla S. Tabor, of Hamilton, Ohio, was driving a 2002 Mercury eastbound on I-74 around three miles east of Batesville when she lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the south side of the highway and overturned.
Tabor was transported to a Cincinnati-area hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Investigators said the cause of the crash is still unknown, though a medical condition may have been a contributing factor.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be involved, but toxicology results are pending.
Police also noted that Tabor was not properly restrained at the time of the crash, which likely contributed to the severity of her injuries.
The Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Batesville Police Department, Sunman Town Marshal, Batesville Fire and EMS, and the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.
