One person dead following vehicle crash in Ohio

OHIO — An 18-year-old man was killed and another person seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash late Sunday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred just after 11:30 p.m. on State Route 235 in Champaign County.

Troopers from the Springfield Post reported that Jackson Scott, of Quincy, was driving a 2009 Ford Focus northbound when he swerved to avoid hitting an animal. He lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the road and struck a tree.

Scott was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
