One person dead following vehicle crash in Ohio

OHIO — A fatal crash is under investigation after a vehicle overturned on Interstate 75 in Wood County Thursday afternoon.

According to the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:42 p.m. near milepost 178 in Portage Township.

A 2003 Mercury Mountaineer, driven by 24-year-old Makayla Lee of Sidney, was traveling northbound when the driver lost control, veered off the right side of the roadway, and rolled several times.

Lee, the vehicle’s sole occupant, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators noted that she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Responding to the scene were the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, Mid County EMS, Central Joint Fire Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Wood County Coroner’s Office, and Wright’s Towing.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident and reminds all motorists to wear their safety belts.
