OHIO — One person was killed and a teenager was seriously injured in a crash Saturday morning on U.S. 30 in Allen County, according to authorities.
Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 10:17 a.m. near the Hancock County line.
Investigators identified the victim as 62-year-old Lawrence Morris Sr. of Toledo. Authorities said Morris was traveling on County Road 15 when he failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled into the path of a semi-truck traveling on U.S. 30.
The semi was driven by 54-year-old Andrew Skiles of Rochester.
Morris was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old passenger in his vehicle was transported to Lima Memorial Health System with life-threatening injuries. Skiles was also taken to the hospital with possible injuries.
Officials said all occupants involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The crash caused significant damage to both vehicles and resulted in a diesel spill, prompting a response from the Allen County Emergency Management Agency.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including local law enforcement, fire departments, EMS crews, and towing services.
The crash remains under investigation.
