
OHIO — One person has died following a crash on an Interstate 270 exit ramp in Columbus Thursday morning, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said deputies, along with officers from the Columbus Division of Police, responded to a crash on the exit ramp from Interstate 270 northbound to State Route 161 east.
Investigators reported that a white 2024 Ford Maverick was traveling east on State Route 161 when it struck a barrier while navigating the curve from the interstate shortly after 6:30 a.m.
One person was transported to a hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead at 6:49 a.m., officials said. The victim’s identity has not been released.
Both the northbound and southbound exit ramps from I-270 to State Route 161 were closed as crews responded to the scene. Authorities said there is no estimated time for when the ramps will reopen.
Traffic has been diverted to Sunbury Road, with additional alternate routes including Morse Road to Hamilton Road and Johnstown Road.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the agency’s crash investigation unit.
