OHIO — A person was killed Monday night in a single-vehicle crash in Troy Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 10:14 p.m. on Gass Road between Lexington Ontario Road and State Route 97 in Richland County.
Investigators say a 2019 Ford Mustang was traveling south on Gass Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car crossed the centerline and went off the left side of the roadway before striking several trees. Authorities say the vehicle then caught fire.
Troopers from the Mansfield Post responded to the scene and said the driver suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Officials have not yet released the identity of the driver as they work to confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation. No additional details have been released.
