
NORTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and another seriously injured in a head-on crash outside a Monroe neighborhood early Friday morning, police said.
The collision happened around 7:22 a.m. on Feb. 27 at the intersection of Goldmine Road and River Chase Drive.
Authorities said both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles following the crash. One driver died at the scene. The other was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The crash occurred about 45 minutes before a separate wreck that injured two Monroe police officers approximately 3.4 miles away.
Officials said the cause of the head-on collision remains under investigation.
