NORTH CAROLINA — Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Friday evening in Greensboro.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m., officers with the Greensboro Police Department, along with the Greensboro Fire Department and Guilford County EMS, responded to a crash in the area of Pembroke Road and Chatham Drive.
According to witnesses, a Ford Focus Sedan was traveling east on Pembroke Road when it ran off the roadway where the road ends. The vehicle struck a barrier and continued into a wooded area, where it collided with a tree.
The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, died from injuries sustained in the crash. Police said impairment does not appear to be a factor.
The Greensboro Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
