MICHIGAN — One person was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Kalamazoo, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
Officers responded to a report of a T-bone crash at approximately 1:27 p.m. at the intersection of Burdick Street and Hutchinson Street. When officers arrived, they found two vehicles with heavy damage.
Police said one vehicle was driven by a 68-year-old woman who was found unresponsive and had to be extricated from the vehicle. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 19-year-old man, reported shoulder pain and was evaluated for his injuries.
According to investigators, the preliminary investigation indicates the woman had stopped at the intersection of Hutchinson Street and Burdick Street and was attempting to turn southbound onto Burdick Street when her vehicle was struck by a northbound vehicle traveling on Burdick Street. The impact caused her vehicle to flip multiple times.
The crash remains under investigation.
