LOUISIANA — A Lake Charles man has died following a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon between Vinton and the Texas state line, according to Louisiana State Police.
Trooper Roy Jones said the crash occurred just before 2:30 p.m. on March 3 along the Interstate 10 service road near Steward Road.
Authorities said Steven Rossiter, 76, of Lake Charles, was driving west on the service road when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle then struck a ditch and overturned.
Rossiter sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. He later died from his injuries, Jones said.
Investigators reported that Rossiter was properly restrained at the time of the crash.
As part of the investigation, standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police.
