LOUISIANA — A Ponchatoula man died Saturday afternoon following a three-vehicle crash on LA Highway 22, according to Louisiana State Police.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m. near N. Thibodeaux Road. Preliminary findings show that a Jeep and a Nissan were traveling westbound on the highway, with the Nissan following behind the Jeep. At the same time, 28-year-old Caleb Milton of Ponchatoula was riding a motorcycle eastbound.
For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Jeep attempted to make a left turn into a private driveway, moving directly into the motorcycle’s path.
Milton’s motorcycle struck the side of the Jeep, crossed the centerline, and then collided head-on with the Nissan in the opposite lane.
Milton suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. The driver of the Jeep was not injured. The Nissan driver sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a nearby hospital.
State Police say the crash remains under investigation.
