INDIANA — At least one person was killed in a crash on State Road 1 in Wayne County Monday night, authorities said.
According to a notification from the Indiana Department of Transportation, the crash occurred on State Road 1 between Charles Road and Pierce Road near Hagerstown. INDOT issued its alert around 8:43 p.m.
The Indiana State Police are investigating the crash and confirmed that at least one person died as a result of the incident.
Troopers shut down State Road 1 in both the northbound and southbound directions while they worked at the scene. As of the latest update, neither ISP nor INDOT had provided an estimate for when the roadway would reopen.
Authorities have not released the exact number of people injured or killed, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
