INDIANA — A 61-year-old man from Macy, Indiana, was killed Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Miami County, according to authorities.
The Indiana State Police said Robert Wiser was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on Mexico Road near Eel River Road in Mexico when the vehicle went off the roadway for an undetermined reason. The crash occurred in an area approximately 85 miles north of Indianapolis, near U.S. 31.
State police arrived at the scene just before 12:30 p.m. and located the pickup truck in a ditch after it left the roadway. Authorities said Wiser was unresponsive when first responders arrived, and life-saving measures were immediately initiated.
Wiser was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
Investigators said the crash remains under investigation. At this time, officials do not believe alcohol or narcotics were factors in the crash.
