One person dead following vehicle crash in Indiana

INDIANA — An 18-year-old was killed in a single-car crash in Henry County early Sunday morning, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 9000 block of East County Road 450 North shortly after 2:30 a.m. for a reported personal injury crash.

Police said a Jeep was traveling at a high rate of speed when it ran off the road, struck several trees, and flipped before coming to a stop.

Deputies found 18-year-old Nicholas Harris, of New Castle, lying in the roadway. They provided aid, but Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
