ILLINOIS — A 26-year-old woman from Decatur died early Saturday morning following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Main Street.
Decatur Police said officers were dispatched to the scene around 2:48 a.m.
The initial investigation indicates that an International box truck, driven by a 68-year-old man from Rock Island, was traveling southbound on Main Street with a green light when a Ford Focus traveling eastbound on Grand Avenue ran a red light and collided with the truck. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The Ford was carrying three passengers — a 22-year-old, a 24-year-old, and an 18-year-old, all female. The driver was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The passengers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said there is no indication the truck driver was under the influence, and toxicology results for the Ford driver are pending.
The Decatur Police Fatal Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation. No further details have been released.
